The removal of fully unstructured addresses, originally planned for 15 November 2026, has been postponed due to industry readiness concerns.
This decision was made by SWIFT in August. Subsequently, the European Payments Council and Nordic Payments Council announced their own postponements in September. Read more from Swift, EPC and NPC.
As a result, payments with unstructured addresses will continue to be processed in Nordea’s file channels, even after 15 November 2026.
The new end date for unstructured addresses has not yet been determined. Nordea is currently assessing the possible new timelines and will communicate the new end date as soon as it is known.
That said, the transition to structured address remains a strategic priority across the payments ecosystem and for Nordea. We encourage you to continue address migration activities within your organisation or in collaboration with your ERP vendor, treating this delay as an opportunity to get ahead, rather than a reason to pause.
Nordea supports structured, hybrid and unstructured address formats in all our file payment channels today. We recommend initiating payments using structured address data wherever possible, as this improves data quality, strengthens fraud monitoring capabilities, and helps reduce manual intervention, payment rejections and delays.
Changes in Corporate Netbank and Nordea Corporate channels
Following SWIFT’s decision to postpone the end date for unstructured addresses, payments with unstructured addresses no longer risk being rejected after 15 November 2026. You can therefore continue making payments with unstructured address information for due dates beyond 15 November 2026 in Corporate Netbank and Nordea Corporate.
Structured address fields will be introduced in online channels for cross-border and financial payments during Q4 2026. Further details will be provided in the respective channels closer to the implementation dates. No action is required from customers in advance, other than being prepared to enter more structured address data.
