Charts provide a visual overview of the historical price development of financial instruments and can be used to analyze trends, compare instruments, and view forecasts where available.
Understanding charts
The charts show the historical price development of a selected instrument over a chosen date range. For some instruments, forecast data is also available, providing an indication of how the price may move in the future.
All charts display mid rates (or mid prices). For currency pairs, the bid rate is the price at which Nordea buys a currency, and the ask rate is the price at which Nordea sells it. The mid rate is the midpoint between these two rates.
Change the chart date range
You can adjust the date range shown in the chart to display historical prices for different periods.
- Click the date range drop-down menu in the top-left corner of the chart
- Select one of the predefined periods, or choose Custom to define your own date range
View charts as percentage change
By default, the vertical axis displays price values. You can instead display the chart as a percentage change from the start of the selected period, making it easier to compare how different instruments have performed over time.
- Click the menu icon in the top-right corner of the chart
- Select Chart settings
- Change the Prices setting to % change
- Click Save
Compare multiple instruments
You can compare the performance of multiple instruments within the same chart.
- In the quotes list, select the instruments you want to compare by clicking the circles next to them
By default, the selected instruments are compared relative to each other and displayed with separate price axes. To compare them on a single axis:
- Click the menu icon in the top-right corner of the chart
- Select Chart settings.
- Change the Compare quotes on setting to Single axis
- Click Save
View forecast charts
Forecast charts are available for selected instruments and show how prices may develop in the future. If forecast data is available for an instrument, you can enable it from the chart.
- Enable the Forecast toggle above the chart
By default, the chart displays Nordea's forecast together with the forward curve. You can customize which forecast sources are shown:
- Click the menu icon in the top-right corner of the chart
- Select Chart settings
- Use the Forecast sources toggles to enable or disable available forecast sources
- Click Save
